The Oneness of Collective Consciousness

October 16th, 2006

Greta Mo’re, Australia

We live near the beach on a beautiful stretch of coastline of New South Wales. A friend came to visit us and we all decided that a stroll on the beach was in order. When we got there the children immediately ran off in one direction and the friend wandered down to the water’s edge to have a foot soak (a Sahaja Yoga clearing practice) in another direction. I found myself hanging back not knowing what I wanted to do. There was a compulsion in me to run and dive and swim out into the blue-green waters just like I’d seen “iron men” and “iron women” do.

As my imagination ran along these lines a realisation dawned on me that I had become a thoroughly conditioned Aussie. If I wasn’t doing something active when down at the beach then I just wasn’t enjoying the sun, surf and sea to the max!

But I was also a thoroughly conditioned Burman…more confident on land than in water! Maybe that’s why I found myself standing there, caught between the conditionings of two cultures.

However, I realised that years of practice of Sahaja Yoga had changed my awareness…. I found myself shifting into the state of thoughtless awareness. My Agnya Chakra cleared and a silence came into me. What I was seeing, and my relationship with the people and the nature around me, took on a new meaning. At that moment time seemed to standstill and everything became living entities in their own right.

The sea expressed itself through the rolling surf and the light dancing upon its surface. The azure blue of the sky met the blue-green of the sea. The golden sand upon which we were all standing met the sea where it waves ended and the green trees behind me met the azure blue of the sky on one end and the golden sand on the other. The human beings on the beach melded into this one large picture, becoming components of this living nature. Everything lost its separateness and became a seamless whole.

I realised that this was the Oneness of All Things or Ekakarita that Shri Mataji had been speaking of for so long. She’d been trying to explain this to us in so many ways for all these years…and I’d finally got it. And in that moment I wished for the whole world of humanity to get this vision of itself then there would be no differences to perceive. There would be no wars of any kind…. Just the Oneness of All Things giving peace, joy and a sense of security.
